Gena

Gena Mann has a Masters of Science in Environmental Science focusing on Wetland Ecology and Industrial Health and Safety. She is currently finishing her law degree at UConn Law. Gena is a Retired/Veteran of the USCG and Reserve for 21+ years with multiple deployments/activations including responding to DeepWater Horizon. In her spare time Gena is highly active with local church assisting with fundraisers for Homeless Outreach and other community programs. She has participated in the St. Baldrick’s Shave for the Brave event for the last 7 years, raising money to research cures for children’s cancer.

Francine

Francine is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in Neuroscience, currently working towards her Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Sciences with a concentration in U.S. Health Justice at the Yale School of Public Health. She is currently working as an intern in the Discharge Upgrades department at CVLC. Her interests are in the intersection of health and law. In the future, she hopes to attend law school and work as an advocate for those who suffered from social justice and human rights violations.

Olivia

My name is Olivia Lawlor and I am a rising Junior at Villanova University. I am currently studying both Political Science and Spanish, and I am the Captain of the Villanova Equestrian Team. I am so excited to be interning with CVLC because I am able to combine my passion for the law with my passion for helping others, especially those that have served our country!

Anjali

Hi my name is Anjali Gorti. I am a summer intern at the CVLC. I am a sophomore at UCONN, and I am a double major for Political Science and Economics. I currently am working with the screening team at the CVLC.

Marelin

Marelin Lykes, a legal intern with the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC), is a strong operation professional pursuing a Juris Doctorate (JD) from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical College of Law. Before law school, she worked with the Federal Government as a dual-status Military-Technician, conducting operations to prepare Soldiers for in-state, out-of-state and overseas mobilizations. Marelin also served a total of eight years in the Army and Army Reserve as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and a paralegal specialist. In July 2020, Marelin received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a Homeland Security and Crisis Management specialization. After completing her JD, she hopes to continue advocating for veterans through public civil service. Marelin is a New York native that loves the Yankees. She is a wife to Dario and a mother to Delilah and Joshua. Her passion is always to give back to the community; she believes someone, somewhere needs legal assistance.
