CVLC welcomes new class of summer interns!
Amy Boggan
Amy Boggan is a CVLC summer policy and research intern. Last year, she completed a B.A. in Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University and began studying at the University of Connecticut School of Law. During her undergraduate education, she had the privilege of advocating for elder and dependent adult victims of property crimes as a DA’s Office intern.
She is passionate about providing legal information and support to everyone who needs it, and she is excited and honored to learn more about the legal issues facing service members and veterans throughout her summer with CVLC.
Emily Coombs
Emily Coombs is a recent graduate of UConn School of Law where she participated in the Veteran’s Benefits Clinic. She is currently preparing to take the Bar Exam in September and in her free time is supporting veterans and CVLC. Prior to and during law school Emily worked full time in Labor Relations and Human Resources.
Shantel Doss
Shantel Doss is a rising 2L evening student at Uconn Law. She is working with the VA Benefit team at CVLC this summer. She would like to provide legal assistance to Veterans and military families, in part, because she is the proud member of a military family. She is also the Secretary for the Black Law Students Association. In addition to this, she frequently volunteers with the West Hartford Town Council and has aided in the campaign trails for several elections.
Susanna Lombardi
Susanna is working as a summer intern for the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center. She is a special education teacher at a high school in New Haven. Susanna has been teaching for the last twelve years. Prior to teaching, she worked in quality and regulatory affairs in a diagnostic laboratory and medical device company. While teaching, she attended Quinnipiac University School of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in May 2019. Susanna attended the Veteran’s Benefit Clinic at QU and became passionate about working with and helping veterans. She plans on continuing to volunteer at CVLC once the summer is over and is currently awaiting accreditation from the VA. Susanna has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wesleyan University and is admitted to practice law in Connecticut.
David Villa
David Villa works as a 2020 Summer legal intern for the Discharge Upgrade Team. David is a rising 3L at the University of Connecticut School of Law. He is a “double husky” having also completed a B.A. in philosophy at UConn. David has served as a legal intern at the Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney’s Office, UConn Law’s Criminal Trial Division Clinic, and UConn Law’s Animal Law Clinic.
Prior to attending school he served in the U.S. Army, as an enlisted man and NCO, under a variety of commands, including the 82nd Airborne Division, United States Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command, and the Rhode Island National Guard, deploying several times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
